Excited to announce that I have been named a judge for the Canadian Hip Hop Dance Championships Regionals in Montreal on April 1st. Being a past competitive hip hop dancer, dance is something that has always hit close to home. VERY excited to see what dancers have to bring to the table. Finals will be held in June in my hometown of Ottawa! Tickets can be bought here.
This past Friday (May 13th) I was fortunate enough to be invited by a friend of mine to photograph some backstage photos for Justin Bieber's 2016 Purpose Tour. It was really dope of JBlaze to introduce me to the rest of the Purpose Tour team and to also give me some BTS insight of the tour life including the infamous tour bus lifestyle. The show itself was incredible and if you have the chance to go see it, I HIGHLY recommend that you do! I am extremely grateful for this opportunity. Major thank you to JBlaze for the invite once again and BTS photos coming soon on my instagram: @yonicreatives
I haven't posted in awhile so figure I should post a quick blog! I am fortunate enough to be able to travel as part of my job, but a lot of the photos never make it to social media and are kept in storage. I decided to create a vsco account where photos aren't always black and white and give you guys a BTS look of my travels. Hope you guys enjoy them as much as I do. To view my vsco accout click HERE. Make sure to give me a quick follow as well!
Im sorry I haven't been posting as much on this blog lately. I have been working on new content and shooting a lot of models and products so I may update the content on this award-winning website.
On July 10th, I was finally able to attend the KANYE WEST concert here in Ottawa at RBC's Bluesfest with some INCREDIBLE seats located in VIP. The opener itself was an amazing time which was performed by Chance the Rapper a fellow Chitown rapper. The event got a little wild, but I mean... it was for Kanye West. Although there were many haters and people signing petitions, etc, he still showed up and did his thing. That was one hell of a show. Feel free to check out some footage from my latest vlog featuring THE KANYE WEST and Chance the rapper. Watch the vlog HERE.
Last night was the 42nd Annual Algonquin Photography Program Exhibition and it was one night to remember. I will be posting images shortly from the event and a "Thank You" video on my youtube page. I was fortunate enough to win the "Best Website" award (Thank you to Chris Ward) and have many of my friends, family and coworkers come through. Stay tuned for images from the event along with the release of my Final Portfolio images here on my website!
I was honoured to have been chosen amongst a few grads to do a quick interview in regards to our thoughts on our experience in the program. You can see my latest interview under my videos -> interview section. It was shot by my buddy Rob Martin who did a stellar job! Enjoy!
See you then.

I shot a quick series alongside some grads and faculty a few weeks back. It was for fun. Considering we just received our final portfolio marks, I thought it was time to finally celebrate all of our hard work, not just for the students but for the staff as well. my latest series is now LIVE under my personal projects. Enjoy!!
A couple weeks back I had posted a blog post about doing an interview with a group of guys called, "The Ring Interviews". They interview up and coming artists and entrepreneurs. My interview is now LIVE and viewable under videos -> interviews. Peep it and subscribe to their channel. I am excited to see who they interview next!
I was given the opportunity to write a testimonial about Algonquin College's Photography Program. A part of my testimonial is now viewable on the program's website. If you have ever thought about joining a photography program or have any questions, check out the FAQ's page alongside testimonials from my fellow grads and past alumni. It was an honour to be selected to be a part of this project and I hope you join the program.
I haven't been to Ottawa's Bluesfest in some time now and never really thought of going because of the acts. This year the line up leaked but not without possibly the biggest name. Today they released the poster and officially announced that KANYE WEST will be headlining Bluesfest this year on July 10th. Kanye has always been an idol of mine as a human and as an artists. Now I have the chance to see him perform LIVE. I am beyond excited for this night and not to mention in a little VIP section next to the stage. Go big or go home right? July 10th couldn't come any sooner. Yeezy Season is still in full swing.
Today I was featured on a newly launched series called, "The Ring Interviews" . It's a group of good men shooting a series of interviews with lots of hard hitting questions. The set was inside a boxing ring and the questions and overall environment fits really well with their name. It was a great time and be on the look out for not just my interview with them, but their entire project as a whole. They plan on interviewing other artists, entrepreneurs and even having a street team this summer. I commend these gentlemen on what they've started and I look forward to seeing their project progress.
Two weeks ago, I was invited to attend the dinner gala prior to the grand opening of the Nordstrom here in Ottawa. All proceeds went towards the United Way. It was an extraordinary evening. I was able to attend the event with my cousin Haydee who is quite the fashionista as well. There was a ton of food everywhere, which included ribs, poutine and even sushi. There was even an open bar, which I'm sure many people enjoyed. It was a great night to enjoy with people from the same industry and share the same interest. I am very excited to see what Nordstrom brings to Ottawa and how Ottawa will respond to them coming here. Welcome to Ottawa, Nordstrom.
On Sunday February 22, 2015, I was invited to go to a runway fashion show here in Ottawa. It was called, "Runway For Hope". The whole concept of this show was to showcase work from local designers and boutiques and all proceeds would go towards CHEO. There's nothing better than when fashion meets charity. The show had many people attend, including modelling agencies, fashion bloggers, stylists, local media and a ton of photographers. For this night, I was simply a a guest for the event and even fortunate enough to be a VIP guest. I had the honour of sitting front row among stylists and art directors from Ottawa and other cities. It was a fun night to spend with good people who share the same interest. It was also very fascinating to see what people come up with as designs for clothing as fashion never stops.
Every year since 2012 I have been asked to photograph an event for Goodlife Fitness Clubs. The event is called, "Spin 4 Kids". It is a one day nationwide event to help raise money for Goodlife Kids Foundation. People come in, donate money and take spinning classes. You receive a free t-shirt, food and drinks. Who doesn't love free things?? It's always heart warming to see people donate money and time towards a really good cause. The next Spin 4 Kids event is on March 7, 2015 where I plan on photographing the event once again. To see photos of previous Spin 4 Kids events, please visit my event pages on my website.
Earlier this year, Algonquin College asked me to photograph an event in Toronto. I didn't do this event alone. They also asked one of my best friends in the program Greg "Beard" Crutchlow to photograph the event as well. They paid for our flights to and from Toronto, drivers and our food. The event was packed with higher ranked educational members. It was a great experience overall and I am super happy that I got to do the event and share the experience with one of my best friends. For more photos, you can see them under my events page.
I was given the opportunity to work with Creations of LA on a collaboration project with Under LA. Under LA is a street label clothing line based out of downtown Los Angeles created by Tishaun Dawson. You can see more of the creatives in my photo galleries under Editorial Lookbooks.
For awhile now, I used a red YS logo that was super obnoxious and aggressive. I thought it was time for a change to show the maturity of myself and my brand. No one referred to me as YS because it just sounds weird and more people call me Yoni anyway. This site represents the rebranding of my brand and myself as a whole. It will be more professional and more to my style of creativity. I hope you guys enjoy this journey of my rebranding and also enjoy the creatives that I come up with. Peace and Love, to new beginnings.
